Chicagoland Thoroughbred tracks: 130 days for 2017

Arlington Park and Hawthorne Race Course will offer a combined 130 live racing programs in 2017 under a scheduled approved by the Illinois Racing Board in late September.

Hawthorne will launch the season March 3-April 1 with racing Fridays and Saturdays, followed by three programs per week on a Thursday-through-Saturday schedule from April 2-29.

Arlington from April 30-July 9 will race three days a week—Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays—as well as Monday holidays. From July 10-Sept. 4 Thursdays will be added to make for a four-day week, and the meet wraps up with racing Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Sept. 23.

Hawthorne, after 80 nights of harness racing May 11-Sept. 24, returns to complete the Chicagoland Thoroughbred season with racing from Oct. 1-Dec. 31. Racing will be offered four days a week—Wednesday through Saturday—from Oct. 1-Nov. 4; three days a week—Thursday through Saturday—from Nov. 5-Dec. 2; and two days a week (Fridays and Saturdays) from Dec. 3-31.

Fairmount Park, located in downstate Illinois near St. Louis, Mo., was approved for 41 racing days from May 2-Sept. 23 will racing on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Labor Day Monday.
