NYRA brings back Florida, Arkansas shipper incentives

Posted: Dec. 31, 2018

The New York Racing Association has announced the return of a pair of shipping incentive programs at Aqueduct Racetrack and Belmont Park for horsemen based this winter in Florida or at Oaklawn Park in Arkansas.

Horses that made their previous start at Oaklawn may be able to take advantage of a “Ship & Win” program, which includes a 30% purse bonus for their first two starts as well as a $1,500 shipping stipend for a start during either the Aqueduct spring or Belmont Park spring/summer meets, excluding stakes. In addition, horses that made their previous start at either Gulfstream Park or Tampa Bay Downs may be eligible for a shipping subsidy for a start during the Aqueduct spring meet, excluding stakes.

Owners who ship horses from Florida and make their first start from March 8-31 will receive $2,000, while horses shipped in from Florida that make their first start from April 5-20 will be credited $1,500.

First-time starters do not qualify for either program, and NYRA reserves the right to determine eligibility of qualified starters.

The Aqueduct winter meet runs through March 31, 2019. The 12-day Aqueduct spring meet begins on April 5 and is highlighted by the grade II, $750,000 Wood Memorial and four supporting graded stakes on April 6. The Aqueduct spring meet concludes April 20, and live racing will move to Belmont April 26.
