John Wayne, Executive Director of the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission and a longtime racing official and investigator, died Feb. 26 while he was attending the Organization of Racing Officials conference in New Mexico.
Wayne, who was 65, was considered one of the industry’s top regulators and each spring hosted the Racing Officials Accreditation Program’s two-day conference on behalf of the DTRC.
