Delaware THA stallion season auction set for Jan. 11-14

Posted: Jan. 9, 2017

The Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association will hold its fifth stallion auction Jan. 11-14, and more than 50 stallion seasons have been donated thus far.

The stallions reside in six different states, so there are options for breeders across the country.

The Delaware Certified Thoroughbred Program, which offers purse bonuses to horses that have been domiciled in the state for at least 90 days prior to March 31 of their 2-year-old year, will waive the application fee for the progeny produced by stallion seasons purchased at the 2017 auction.

“We would like to thank everyone in advance for your generous support—from the farms and stallion stations that have donated stallion seasons to the bidders—as we work diligently to sustain horse racing, increase the number of mares bred in order to increase our foal crop, and protect purse revenue while educating legislators about what horse racing brings to their state,” the Delaware THA said.

Stallion seasons are still being accepted. To donate or view a complete list of available stallions visit the DTHA website or call the DTHA office at (302) 994-2521, ext. 7284.
