Delaware Park sets racing schedule for 77-day meet in 2021

Posted: Feb. 19, 2021 Delaware Park has released its racing schedule for a 77-day meet that was earlier approved by the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission. The meet will begin May 26, a Wednesday, and wrap up on Oct. 16, a Saturday. Similar to previous years, live racing will be held Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays for the first month, with Thursdays added June 24 through Sept. 30. First race daily post time is set for 1:15 p.m. The Grade II Delaware Handicap is scheduled for July 10 and the Grade III Delaware Oaks on July 3. The Del Cap, run last year at 1 1/8 miles, will return to its traditional 1 1/4-mile distance. The Oaks will remain at 1 1/16 miles. The Grade III Robert G. Dick Memorial, for fillies and mares at 1 3/8 miles on the turf, will be the supporting feature on the Del Cap program, while the Grade III Kent Stakes, for 3-year-olds at 1 1/8 miles on turf, will be the supporting feature on the Oaks card. The 29th edition of Owners Day, featuring four Delaware Certified Stakes, is set for Sept. 25. The event is hosted by the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and Delaware Park.
