Nominations for the 2017 Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards, principally sponsored by Godolphin, close at midnight Aug. 1.
This year there will be six awards with total prize money of $128,000, up $13,000 from 2016, the inaugural year.
Godolphin sponsors the awards in association with The Jockey Club, National Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association, and the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association. Godolphin sponsors similar awards programs in Ireland, Australia, Great Britain and France.
The categories are Leadership Award–Racing, Leadership Award–Breeding, Dedication to Breeding Award, Dedication to Racing Award, Thoroughbred Industry Community Award, and a new one this year, the Newcomer Award.
Last year, the Leadership Award–Racing went to Melissa Cohen, Assistant Trainer for New York THA President Rick Violette.
